Interdepartmental SDG Awareness Fair 2026
Promoting Sustainability Through Student Innovation and Collaboration
The Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences, Mukabbir University of Science & Technology, Gujrat, successfully organized and hosted the Interdepartmental SDG Awareness Fair 2026 on 21 May 2026. The event was designed as an internal university initiative aimed at promoting awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through student-led projects, creative models, awareness campaigns, and sustainability-focused stalls.
The fair provided an engaging and interactive platform where students could explore global sustainability challenges and present practical solutions linked to health, education, environmental protection, equality, responsible consumption, and sustainable lifestyles. The activity reflected the university’s commitment to fostering socially responsible graduates who can contribute positively to local and global communities.
Participation Across Academic Departments
Although the event was hosted by the Department of Physical Therapy, it encouraged broad interdisciplinary participation from various academic departments across the university. Students from the Departments of Computer Science, Psychology, and Human Nutrition & Dietetics actively participated alongside Physical Therapy students.
The collaboration among different disciplines enriched the event by bringing diverse perspectives and innovative approaches to sustainability-related issues. The fair also provided students with an opportunity to work collectively, share ideas, and learn from one another while addressing important global challenges.
Formal Inauguration by University Leadership
The event commenced with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the university’s senior leadership. The inauguration was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Executive Director, Director Academics, Director Administration and Coordination, Registrar, and Controller of Examinations.
Following the inauguration, the university leadership visited the various stalls and project displays, interacted with participating students, and appreciated their efforts in promoting sustainability awareness. They encouraged students to continue engaging in academic and social initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and community well-being.
Creative SDG-Based Projects and Models
One of the major highlights of the fair was the presentation of innovative SDG-focused projects and awareness models developed by students. These projects demonstrated creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to connect academic knowledge with real-world sustainability concerns.

In addition to academic projects, students also arranged a variety of healthy and environmentally responsible food stalls. These stalls promoted awareness regarding nutrition, healthy eating habits, and responsible food consumption.

The fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative staff, university employees, and students. Visitors explored the stalls, discussed sustainability-related issues with participants, and gained valuable insights into the Sustainable Development Goals.
The active engagement of the university community created a vibrant academic environment and provided students with an opportunity to confidently present their ideas, explain their projects, and enhance their communication and presentation skills.
Closing Ceremony and Recognition of Participants
The event concluded with a closing ceremony during which the Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the importance of sustainability awareness in academic, professional, and personal life. The Director Academics also commended the students for their creativity, dedication, and teamwork throughout the event.
To recognize their contributions, certificates were distributed among participating students and guests, acknowledging their role in making the event a success.
