Program Overview

The Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students for advanced careers in research. It requires a high level of self-directed study and independent inquiry. Each PhD. program is individually tailored, emphasizing close collaboration between the student and their research adviser. During the first year of study, students are expected to identify their research area and secure a faculty adviser who agrees to supervise their dissertation research. The Ph.D. program in Computer Science places strong emphasis on rigorous coursework and cutting-edge research, with outcomes expected to be published in peer-reviewed international conferences and journals. Students are encouraged to pursue coursework and research concurrently. Successful completion of both components is mandatory for the award of the PhD degree.
